Recently, some users encountered the Dell A960 Hardware Error 0504 error message. This problem can occur due to many factors. We will review them below.
PC running slow?
Although I had an A940, I think it is just as faulty. Naturally, when I got a 502 error, I went here and before that I was amazed at how many people faced the same problem. Upon further investigation, “support” found only erroneous instructions and discovered that “support” had never actually tried these faulty printers. Many guests were upset that these printers were not recalled. Some models received replacements for warranty models, and the replaced devices soon got “Error 502”.
All useful posts have long since been deleted, but it was clear that the “coding tape” nightmare and/or wastebasket was the medium on which the cassette would most likely play.
After constantly getting “Error 502” and painfully cleaning the scratches on each successive printed page, I took apart my 940 (NOT an easy task). That’s when I found out that a particular car was made, when a lot of “support” orders were placed. Then I decided to buy another printer. A few months ago I sold a Lexmark X7170 (yes I know the Dell A940 became Lexmark) and it works great. I also gained much of the peace of mind I lost while fighting the A940.
“Wish your senior would try it now and see what real headaches are”
So I got this error, 50c. looked at the printer to check each of our cartridges and they couldn’t even get them to me, let alone know they were all in the left direction. The lazy type because the printer usually detects the cartridges in the middle as soon as you open the lid. So the suspect is somehow connected to the underlying mechanisms.
I checked all the cables, restarted the machine, turned off/on the printer.
I’ve read a few related posts on these message boards that this printer won’t accept third party cartridges from time to time… the black ink cartridge is the main one and worked relatively well a while ago, a few days ago, so I no idea what’s going on.
Any help is welcome. Feel free to asktechnical questions in addition to your answers, I’ve been practicing with computers… but obviously my knowledge of printers is out of place. 🙂
